My Path
“It’s all about focus”, Kobe Bryant.
My Name is Lucas Figueira, I am a 19 year old Front end Developer
from Argentina.
I enjoy spending time on my own. Going to the gym, coding, reading
and listening to music are my ground wire. 🧘🏼♂️
I like to build visually appealing websites, in the most simplest
way. I am a very perfectionist person. 🛸
Currently i'm just working to improve my skills to be a better
developer every day, I am open to any job opportunity. ⭐
In my first year after graduating from school (2021), I tried going to the university, because that's what parents put your head to when you are growing up. I started studying Business Administration, why? IDK. Ended up, I didn't like it. After more than half a year doing nothing, I got into Real state, I wanted money, and people said "Buy Real state without a penny"... they forgot to say, "that it's not posible in argentina", I realized that quite late. Then after quite of a thinking, I said, I want money but I dont want a regular job. I tried Trading, NFT, Crypto games, I tried been a translator freelance, and some other stuff. Until March 1th 2022.
I had a good friend of mine, which is Backend developer, and he always was kind of "why dont you all become a software engineer" in a joking way. But in March 1th 2022 I said, lets give it a chance, why not... I started with the common "How can i learn to code" Youtube Search, saw a couple of videos but one took my attention and i just clicked it, "HTML course from zero", by "Soy Dalto" a famous Argentinian Youtuber. I really liked it first hand, with my first Hello World I was like, Oh! I'm a hacker!. When I finished the HTML course, I automatically started the CSS course, from the same guy. With CSS at first was kind of weird, beacuse i really liked it what i was doing, But i was like "always that i do something there's a new problem", and that kind of stressed me at that time. I finished the CSS course and I decided to take a few days to reset the mind.
Days before June, I finished the JavaScript course. At that moment i was like "I really like and enjoy when I'm coding, but I hate you CSS..." So i decided to gave a chance to Node.js, I watched some Youtube courses and i liked it. But Late July, I decided to take a break from coding. I was feeling that I was going nowhere, and all the new things that I watched at that time They would come in one ear and out the other.
I started August with a totally different mindset. I got so inspired looking at someone's portfolio, from Linkedin. I saw that portfolio and I said, "I am going to be as good as this guy at building websites", so I signed up for a Web development and React.js course (HTML, CSS, JS and React.js) at CoderHouse. I did it because I wanted to strengthen my foundation , and learn in a more organized way. At first I though that I was going to learn nothing from the web development course, beacuse I already knew all the basics... Turns out I was wrong. I learned a lot of new things from that course, now I can say that I have a good and solid knowledge, and I'm not going to stop learning new things never, because now, I truly now that being Frontend Developer is what I want for my life.
I received my Web Development certificate, being part of the top 10 of the class. I was happy for that, but I truly knew that I still had a long way to really get where I want to be. You can be thinking that after this I started grinding as never, well that's not what happened... the rest of October I was out-of-focus, I wasn't having the best of the times for a bunch of life things, which doesn't matter rigth now. I was still practicing coding but not the hours I would wanted, that because I was distracted all the time, sad all day and that kind of stuff.
After realizing that I was doing nothing in my day to day and that I was having a negative mindset. I decided to get stricter than ever with myself. In just one week I was feeling really good, I was being more productive than ever, coding almost all the day and improving a lot day by day, and which for me is the most important thing, I switched my mindset, I was having a positive mindset all the day, even is something was wrong or I had some problem with my code, I was okay, because I knew from that I was going to learn something.
More focus about my future than ever, I'm starting the JavaScript course, happy because I know I am going to learn a lot of things and improve a lot from the basis that I have.
Currently I'm working as a React developer in a Fintech Startup called COMUNYT.
Right now I am focused on improving day by day my Reactjs Skills. But at the same time I like learning new things and tools, such as a new framework called Qwik.
And in the near future I want to be fullstack and maybe learn about flutter, react native or something for mobile development.
